Project Brief
The homeowners needed a safer, low-maintenance solution to replace their weather-tired wood porch and uneven concrete pad. Our answer: a two-tiered composite deck system that delivers effortless indoor-outdoor flow and year-round durability.
Design Highlights
• Material: Premium, capped composite deck boards in a warm saddle-brown tone that complements the home’s taupe siding.
• Picture-Frame Border: Mitred perimeter boards create a crisp, finished edge and protect board ends from moisture.
• Angled Entry Landing: A custom five-sided landing at the back door provides extra maneuvering space and visual interest.
• Cascading Wide Steps: Three full-width treads offer a gradual, comfortable transition to the yard and double as built-in seating.
• Hidden Fastener System: All deck boards are secured from beneath, leaving a smooth, screw-free surface.
• Low-Profile Platform Extension: A lower platform hugs the landscaping, perfect for movable seating, planters, or a grill station.
• White Rail Accent: A simple, code-compliant guard with square balusters frames the upper deck without blocking garden views.
“We were looking for something safe, low-maintenance, and great-looking—this composite deck checks every box. The angled landing solved our doorway issue, and the wide steps are now everyone’s favorite seating spot at parties.”

Designer’s Notes
The angled landing solves a tricky door swing issue in a confined corner while turning an ordinary step into a focal point. The consistent mitre pattern and concealed fasteners keep all eyes on the rich wood-tone boards, not on hardware.
